The Journal

The journal is a narrative documentation of all of the work the student has completed on the project.  The journal also acts as the record of contact between the student and the mentor.  The journal will be checked periodically by the teacher/advisor and is included in the final portfolio. 

Required elements:

  • Separate, dated entries at regular intervals

  • Detailed explanations

Each entry may include:

  • What you did?

  • What you saw?

  • What you heard?

  • What you learned?

  • How it relates to the project?

  • Time spent

  • Contact with mentor

  • Your feelings/reactions to progress

  • A look forward to the next step
