Formal Project Proposal

The proposal must fulfill the format and content expectations detailed in the Formal Project Proposal Specifications document and must be submitted by the due date to the project advisor. In the event that the Formal Project Proposal does not meet the required criteria, the student will have to resubmit the proposal until it ensures a potentially successful project.

Addendum Criteria

For students whose projects have changed somewhat due to circumstances beyond their control, or for those who decide they want to focus on something other than what they stated in their original project proposal, an addendum to the proposal is needed.  This addendum must meet the same requirements as the original proposal as far as content and professional communication standards are concerned (see Proposal Requirements).  In addition, the addendum should include the following:

  • An explanation of the changes the student is making in the project and how those changes differ from the original plan

  • Why the student wants to making the proposed changes to the project

  • A detailed description of what the student plans to do instead (which must be equal to or greater in terms of level of difficulty than the original idea)

NOTE TO STUDENTS:  Your reasons for changing your project are important—if the reasons are not compelling enough, your changes will not be approved.  The addendum must be approved by the teacher/advisor and by the mentor, BEFORE you implement it.
